EU Presidency
For this reason, the nations holding the next three six month term EU presidency will address a meeting of the Oireachtas European Affairs Committee, tomorrow, (2nd) at 2pm in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House.
Spain, which currently hold the presidency will be represented by Ms Mercedes Rico, Ambassador of Spain to Ireland, Mr Robert Devriese, Belgian Ambassador to Ireland, who will assume the role in July 2010 will also attend the meeting while Mr Ferenc Jari of Hungary, who will take over the presidency in January 2011 will also present to the meeting.
Some of the most pressing issues which will be on the EU agenda in the upcoming eighteen months include; fully implementing the Lisbon Treaty, strategies for economic recovery, job creation , EU enlargement, situation in the Middle East
Ireland is scheduled to hold the EU Presidency in January 2013.
