Bloody Sunday
September 8th 2010
Relatives of four of the victims shot dead on Bloody Sunday will attend a meeting of the Oireachtas Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement, tomorrow, 9th at 11:30 am in Committee in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House.
Tomorrow’s meeting is a follow up from previous discussions victims had with members of the Committee earlier this year, At these discussions, the relatives raised concerns regarding the delay in publication of the Saville Inquiry report and outlined their expectations regarding the report.
In attendance at tomorrow’s meeting will be; Michael McKinney (brother of Willie McKinney), Gerry Duddy (brother of Jackie Duddy), John Kelly, (brother of Michael Kelly) and Tony Doherty (son of Patrick Doherty).
Committee Chairman, Noel Treacy TD said;
“Earlier this year at the Committee, we heard the anxieties and concerns that relatives of victims had regarding the impending publication of the Saville report. Now with the report published and the victims full exonerated we are keen to get their relatives’ perspective.
We would like to hear their views on the findings of the report and how they feel about how the whole process was handled. We would also like to know what they intend to do with their campaign in the future and where they go from here.”
