UTV News Sex Crime
A review by the Courts Service revealed that of 484 cases relating to child sex abuse, disqualification orders had not been handed out 57% of the time.
The investigation was carried out in the wake of the McDermott brothers case, who caused uproar when they were allowed to return to live in the Co Fermanagh village where they had abused children over a period of 30 years.
Hundreds of cases are now being reviewed by the judiciary to find out if disqualifications should have been enforced, and why they were not.
Mr Givan said the process needs to be dealt with urgently by Justice Minister David Ford. He has called for assurances that no offenders have since been allowed to work with children.
"We need to find out how quickly these cases are being reviewed by the judiciary and need to identify if individuals have been given access to children and have that revoked," the DUP Lagan Valley MLA told UTV.
"I think the minister needs to be given that assurance from the judiciary that every effort is being made to rectify something that is clearly causing people a lot of concern.
"There hasn't been an explanation given to date. It doesn't appear to be a clerical error therefore I think there are questions to be asked. But the first priority is to make sure there aren't any individuals that should have been disqualified working with children."
