| U.S. Marshals Task Force Arrests Sex Offender from Montana |
| Kahului, Maui, HI – On July 27, 2011, members of the U.S. Marshals Service Hawaii Fugitive Task Force arrested Joseph Lee Guseman (age 31 of Glendive, Montana) a fugitive sex offender on the run and hiding out in Hawaii. On June 21, 2011, Dawson County Sheriff’s Investigators responded to a residence in Glendive, Montana and arrested Guseman on three counts of Criminal of Obscenity. Guseman was later charged additionally with four counts of Sexual Intercourse Without Consent of a Minor and four counts of Sexual Abuse of Children; the victim was a 14 year old girl. Before investigators could arrest Guseman on the new more serious charges, Guseman posted bail and fled Montana. Dawson County Sheriff’s Office sought the assistance of the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force to locate and apprehend Guseman. Through the investigation the US Marshals tracked the fugitive to Maui, Hawaii. At approximately 11:15 am, Deputy U.S. Marshals, Maui Police Department Officers, and Hawaii State Deputy Sheriffs raided a residence in Kahului, Maui and arrested Guseman without incident. Guseman was turned over to the Maui Police Department and is awaiting an extradition hearing to be sent back to Montana. |
