Child Abuse conviction

BISMARCK—United States Attorney Timothy Q. Purdon announced that on July 20, 2011, Richard C. Black Cloud, 22, Cannon Ball, North Dakota, pleaded guilty in United States District Court to a charge of sexual abuse of a minor.
Black Cloud admitted to engaging in a sexual act with a juvenile sometime between May 2009 through August 2009 on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation
The charge of sexual abuse of a minor carries a statutory maximum penalty of 15 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Bureau of Indian Affairs - Standing Rock Agency.
Sentencing for Black Cloud has been scheduled for October 27, 2011, in United States District Court in Bismarck, North Dakota, at 2:30 p.m.
Assistant United States Attorney Rick Volk is prosecuting the case.
