Weapons and Explosives find Dublin

Three men were arrested after an explosive device and a quantity of ammunition were seized in west Dublin last night.




Members of the Garda Emergency Response Unit made the arrests after stopping and searching two vehicles in the Ballyfermot area at about 11.20pm.



The viable explosive device was found under one of the cars and made safe by an Army bomb disposal unit at about 1.30am. The remains of the device were handed over to gardaĆ­.



Two men aged in their late 20s and early 30s were arrested at the scene.



They were taken to Ballyfermot Garda station where they are being held under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act 1939.



A house in the Wheatfield area was searched as a follow-up to the arrests, and a large quantity of ammunition was discovered.
