Micheal Martin, No Balls, No Candidate and No Party

Micheal Martin, No Balls, No Candidate and No Party
Sinn Fein will support Michael D Higgins in the forth-coming Presidential election as the party feels it is essential that they support a winner. Fianna Fail continues to scratch around in the ashes of their general election scorching for a candidate, however, anyone taking the poison Fianna Fail chalice would be expected to be cremated by the electorate, in a last ditch effort Fianna Fail will quietly support independent candidate Mary Davies.
Mary Davies, who continues to be criticised for using her position with the Special Olympics to support a public campaign for the Lisbon Treaty is not expected to poll well. Davies appears to be a self-profiler with an unquenchable thirst for publicity and self-promotion. The fact that she supported a bogus campaign that promised jobs and economic prosperity will be frowned upon by the electorate. One leading analysed said:
“While we expect politicans to support such campaigns, people were really not happy with Mary Davies, she appears to jump on every populace band wagon”.
Independent Presidential hopeful Mary Davis has said she would welcome a live broadcast debate involving all the candidates in the October poll. Fianna Fáil is today expected to confirm that the party will not be contesting the election, while Sinn Féin have yet to make a decision, although supporting Michael D Higgins looks like the only real option available.
So far, Labour's Michael D Higgins, Fine Gael's Gay Mitchell and Independent Sean Gallagher have been the only three confirmed candidates. Ms Davis, who has been campaigning in Cork, said she hopes for "a robust debate, where all the issues can be thrashed out".
