Today, The Irish Observer has been given the opportunity to Interview convicted rapist and suspected serial killer Larry Murphy. Larry Murphy was released from Prison in August 2010 having served a 15 year sentence for the kidnap, repeated rape and attempted murder of a young business woman.
q. Larry thanks for giving me this opportunity to speak with you, can I firstly ask if you have any regrets about the crimes for which you were convicted?
a. Yes, I deeply regret the crimes that I committed and I have paid a heavy price for those crimes.
q. Many would say that you paid a very small price when compared to what you done to that innocent young woman?
a. I was brought before the courts and my peers and it was they who determined my punishment not me.
q. How were you treated in prison?
a. I was treated very well in prison, I got on well with fellow inmates and staff, and in there everyone has their own problems.
q. It has been widely speculated in certain sections of the media that you refused to assist Gardai in their investigations into the disappearance of a number of young women, is that correct?
a. If the Gardai had any evidence to connect me with any of those women they would have gone to court and secured a Section 42 Warrant for my arrest, they never did.
q. Can you understand why the Gardai would want to talk to you about those crimes?
a. No I do not, when I was in prison I meet many people who had been convicted of similar and worse crimes than my own, why would the Gardai not want to speak to them.
q. But surely your crimes were committed in an area and in a way to suggest that you could be a key suspect?
a. Personally I think the media wanted to put someone in the frame for these disappearances and as I could not defend myself they put me in the frame.
q. But surely it is the Gardai who put you in the frame and not the media?
a. I honestly don’t believe that, the Gardai were investigating serious crimes and they are entitled to keep an open mind in all these matters, the media have no open mind and by focusing on me have probably hindered the public coming forward with information about many serious crimes.
q. How do you feel about the way you were treated after you left prison in August 2010?
a. Well the fact that the State spent millions in order to keep me in prison for 12 years, but could not provide me with a secure address upon my release shows that the State cares nothing about public safety.
q. Surely you refused to cooperate with Probation and Welfare while you were in prison and that is why you were given no assistance upon your release?
a. That is total nonsense I was transferred to Arbour Hill Prison at my own request so that I could avail of what limited help that is provided to people in my situation by the Department of Justice.
q. Are you saying that you sought help while in prison?
a. That is exactly what I am saying.
q. And can you tell our readers what help is available to people in your position in the prison system?
a. There is very little help, we are constantly told that there is no money available, yet people like John O Donoghue TD could spend hundreds of thousands of Euro of tax payers money on luxury for himself and his wife, as far as I am concerned it is politicians like John O Donoghue who are responsible for lack of rehabilitative care in the prison system.
q. How are you living now and what hope have you for the future?
a. I am having my rent paid by the Probation Service and I get 196 Euro per week Job Seekers Allowance, at the moment I can’t see any hope for the future as I continue to be used as a scape-goat by the tabloid press, the same tabloids that make their living by sexually exploiting men, women and children every day of the week.
q. Surely you can understand that your case is of public interest and that is why the media have an interest in it?
a. Unlike many thousands of sex offenders I have been prosecuted and imprisoned, what about all the child rapists identified in the Murphy, Ryan and Ferns Reports why are the media not seeking their location, some of those people have daily access to children and continue to be protected by the Church and State.
q. Finally, can you tell our readers why you refused to cooperate with the Gardai in their investigations into the disappearance of a number of young women?
a. I have taken responsibility for my crimes, I have done my time and if the Gardai have evidence to connect me with any other crimes I am sure they will arrest and question me.

In 2010 the Brendan Hughes interviews exposed the fact that Gerry Adams had sanctioned the cold blooded and cowardly murder of innocent Catholic Mother of Ten Jean Mc Conville who had been kidnapped, tortured and murdered by criminals under the command of Gerry Adams at that time, and her body buried in County Louth, so that the stain of criminality would rest on the shoulders of the good people of Louth rather than the criminals in west Belfast.
Several weeks ago The Irish Observer exposed the fact that Sinn Fein representatives had held secret meetings with ‘dissident’ terrorists in County Louth in order to gain safe passage for Gerry Adams to run in the Louth constituency. The ‘dissidents’ told Gerry Adams that he would have no problems from them as after all they all had the one objective, just different tactics.
It is amazing that since the Omagh Bomb Sinn Fein have been so public at distancing themselves from the ‘dissidents’ yet behind closed doors deals are being done. North Louth is the strong hold of ‘dissident’ terrorists, yet not as much as a whimper as Lord Adams asks the good people of Louth for their vote so that Lord Adams can have a pension from both the British and Irish parliaments.
Gerry Adams, heralded by many vested interests as a Peace Hero has many Dark Secrets, however, anyone who is not too bothered about child rape and the murder of innocent women should give him a vote.

Last week The Irish Observer brought exclusive inside news that Brian Cowen TD would not contest the General Election, this has been confirmed this evening.
Taoiseach Brian Cowen has announced he will not contest the general election.
Speaking tonight, Mr Cowen said he had come to the decision following talks with his family and newly elected Fianna Fáil leader Micheal Martin.
Mr Cowen said it was time to give the new party leader and frontbench team he appointed earlier today "a break".
He said Mr Martin had not asked him to stand down.
"Everyone in the Fianna Fáil party wanted to see me stand again," he told Midlands Radio 103.
Mr Cowen said he would remain strongly supportive of Mr Martin and the party.
He believed the party's new leader could lead Fianna Fáil into a very good election effort.

Fianna Fail's false promises of the past 14 years have allowed sexual crime to continue unabated, Mr Zero Tolerance John O Donoghue TD who promised that IRELAND would not be a place for such criminals to hide has in fact created the conditions where sex crime is a fact of daily life for thousands of men, women and children. Rather than spend money on child protection Fianna Fail spent 1 Billion Euros Bailing out Religious Child Rapists and 100 Billion bailing out the corrupt and the criminal.
The number of robberies and hijackings in the State rose by some 28 per cent last year, new figures show.
Some 3,193 such crimes were recorded last year, compared to 2,491 the previous year, according to the Central Statistics Office figures on recorded crime. In the fourth quarter of last year, there were 506 robberies from the person, a rise of 46 per cent on the same period in 2009.
In total last year, there were 1,942 robberies perpetrated against individuals, compared to 1,310 in 2009 – an increase of 48.2 per cent.
Separately, the number of recorded sexual offences in the State increased by more than 60 per cent last year due to a review of all such cases by An Garda Siochana.
Some 2,376 sexual offences were recorded in 2010, compared to 1,482 the previous year.
The statistics agency said caution should be exercised in interpreting the rise in the figures, saying it was mainly due to an “ongoing review” of all cases involving alleged sexual offences reported to gardaÃ.
It said some of the offences will have occurred “at some distance in the past”. The review is being undertaken in conjunction with the Garda policy on the investigation of sexual crime, introduced last April.
There was a decrease in the number of homicides last year, with 79 such crimes recorded compared to 88 the previous year. There were 54 murders in 2010 compared to 56 in 2009, and two manslaughter offences compared to four the previous year.
The number of kidnapping and related offences, such as abduction, was down by 10 per cent last year to 131.
Burglaries were down marginally in 2010 on the previous year from 26,911 to 24,502. Figures for aggravated burglary for the full year were down to 333 from 368 in 2009 – a drop of 9.5 per cent.
Controlled drug offences were also down. Some 20,002 such offences were recorded in the full year, compared to 21,983 in 2009. The number of recorded offences of drug possession for personal use dropped by 15 per cent in the fourth quarter last year, compared to the same period in 2009.
The number of ofences relating to drug cultivation and manufacturing, however, more than doubled from 74 to 151 beteen quarter four 2009 and quarter four last year.
Fine Gael justice spokesman Alan Shatter described the increase in robberies as "disturbing" and said it was "a direct link to the economic crisis that besets the country".
"With the economy in crisis and there having been a complete absence of leadership in tackling crime for the last two years, unscrupulous criminals will inevitably target vulnerable people," Mr Shatter said.
He said Fianna Fail claimed in election literature that it had, in Government, increased the number of gardaà to 14,500 "but fail to mention that they intend to reduce Garda numbers to 13,000 in their four-year plan".
"That is just plain dishonest and is yet another example of their determination to mislead the public."
Minister for Justice Brendan Smith welcomed the decrease in nine of the 14 crime groups for which figures were published today, compared to the fourth quarter in 2009.
"The picture presented by these figures reflects the continuing commitment and focused policing of An Garda SÃochána," he said.
"Although the public finances are under considerable pressure, the Garda budget is nevertheless greater than the expenditure outturn for 2010. The Garda Commissioner and I are determined that the resources available will be prioritised on frontline services and utilised with the greatest degree of efficiency achievable."

A fourth man arrested yesterday by Mauritian police in connection with the murder of Michaela Harte on the Indian Ocean island last week is expected in court this morning.
According to a police spokesman, a security guard working at the hotel in which Ms Harte and her husband John McAreavey were honeymooning was taken into custody in the capital Port Louis yesterday.
Mickey Harte stood shoulder to shoulder with his son-in-law John McAreavey as they lay down the Tyrone Rose Michaela Harte McAreavey to sleep in her final resting place.
Grown men often fireless on the football field crumbled all around the small graveyard, school children cried uncontrollably as their teacher and friend was lowered into the earth. Catholic and Protestant stood side by side to say goodbye to a wonderful young woman.
An inspiration in life an Angel in death best sums up the life of Michaela Harte.
Michaela was lowered into the ground with gentleness and love, an Angel returned to the earth in the wedding dress she so proudly wore only a few days ago.
Parents grasped tightly on their children’s hands as the full magnitude of what happened to Michalea Harte finally came upon them as the clay fell down onto her coffin.
Deep painful cries could not be held back from many gathered as they looked upon Mickey and John two men now broken with pain yet united in grief.
Ladies with Rosary beads moved quickly though their prayers a way perhaps to distract them from the horrible truth. Little boys and girls who probably never knew Michaela Harte had tear marked faces as they tried to hide their sadness behind the headstones that are so cold and grey.
There was a warmth in the graveyard even though the day was cold, a warmth of a people wanting to carry the Harte and McAreavey family through this terrible time.
If Michaela could speak from the grave she would not want her family, friends and husband to suffer, she would want them to think about the next All Ireland and enjoy their memories of the Tyrone Rose whom we will never forget.

Lesbian: A teacher sacked for threatening to stab a pupil has been banned from the profession - after bombarding a female colleague with gifts and sexually explicit messages.
Disgraced former English teacher Trell O'Hara harassed Karen Smith over a period of six months - sending her sexual notes, romantic poetry and a dozen red roses.
She even bought Mrs Smith - the head of English at her former school - a solitaire ring and left phone messages under false names in order to get her to call.
A panel at the General Teaching Council (GTC), in Birmingham, found O'Hara guilty of unacceptable professional conduct and banned her from teaching.
The committee heard O'Hara had been employed at College High School, Erdington, Birmingham, in 2005 as a Newly Qualified Teacher in the English department.
But in March 2007, after disciplinary proceedings, she was dismissed for gross misconduct - following an incident where she threatened to stab a pupil in her class.
Students told her dismissal tribunal that they had heard her hurl foul and abusive language at children.
A GTC hearing four years ago found her guilty of unacceptable professional conduct and imposed an official reprimand on her record for two years.
Thursday's GTC hearing was told Mrs Smith, her line manager, was not involved in the disciplinary proceedings.
But between February 2009 and July 2009 O'Hara pursued a campaign of harassment against her.
The teaching panel heard that O'Hara left her a telephone message on February 24 and under a false name in order to get Mrs Smith to contact her.
Miss O'Hara said she wanted to discuss everything that had happened - but when Mrs Smith realised who it was, she terminated the call.
The sacked teacher left another message under another false name on March 11, but her former colleague did not return the call.
Then on February 27 she sent a card to Mrs Smith containing a sexual reference - before sending her a dozen red roses and a card containing romantic poetry on March 5.
The gifts were sent to the school's main reception and Mrs Smith was described as being 'deeply embarrassed and upset' by the incident.
It prompted the school-based police officer to call O'Hara and warn her to stop contacting Mrs Smith or criminal proceedings would follow.
But the unwanted attention continued when the head of English was 'deeply upset' to receive a card containing sexually explicit references, together with a solitaire ring.
Mrs Smith made a formal complaint to the police about O'Hara's behaviour and she was convicted of harassment on October 28, 2009, at Sutton Coldfield Magistrates Court.
The General Teaching Council found O'Hara to have breached professional conduct.
The panel concluded that she lacked insight into her behaviour and has a 'deep-seated attitudinal problem'.
They sanctioned her with a prohibition order, meaning she cannot register as a teacher.
Andy Connell, chair of the panel, said in his concluding report: 'We are satisfied that the behaviour amounts to unacceptable professional conduct.
'It was behaviour directed towards a former colleague which had a detrimental effect on that colleague.
'Some of the behaviour became known to others and not only had the potential but must have brought the profession into disrepute.' O'Hara was told she could apply to have the ban overturned in four years time.
She also has a right of appeal to the High Court within 28 days from the date of her order.

Homophile: A grooming music teacher who preyed on young boys was told today he would serve a minimum of five years in jail.
Andrew Kingsley, 23, also faces a lifelong restriction order after admitting a 'predatory campaign' of sexual abuse against children as young as 12 between 2007 and 2009.
At the High Court in Edinburgh, Kingsley, of Alloa, Clackmannanshire, was jailed for at least five years after pleading guilty last year to 31 charges, including using internet chatrooms to groom under-age boys for sex.
Judge Lord Pentland said the worst aspect of Kingsley's 'sustained criminality' was the 'devious manipulation and relentless pursuit' of his victims for his own gratification.
Lord Pentland told Kingsley the lifelong restriction order meant he would be subject to risk assessment and close supervision for the rest of his life.
He said: 'The intensity of your offending, its duration and the level of planning and calculation involved all support this view.
'In my opinion, if you are at liberty there is likelihood that you will seriously endanger the wellbeing of members of the public at large.'
Sixteen boys were targeted by Kingsley, who he begged for sex over the internet.
He committed serious sexual crimes against at least one young boy.

A Thaoisigh, I am writing to you to refute in the strongest possible terms the allegation you made that the Sinn Féin leadership had prior knowledge of the Northern Bank robbery and to express my deep concern at this ill-founded comment and the damage that it has caused to our working relationship and to the process. As you know I value and have acknowledged your significant contribution to the peace process.
During the negotiations leading to the Good Friday Agreement in 1998 and in the years since you have played a leadership role in the collective endeavour of sustaining and pushing forward the peace process. Of course, there have been differences between us. That is the nature of a process like this.
For your part the Irish government has been concerned at times over Sinn Féin’s attitude to issues. And in Sinn Féin’s view the Irish government has not always behaved as an equal partner in its dealings with the British government.
But until recently both the government and the Sinn Féin leadership have not allowed these differences to upset the imperative and the primacy of the search for peace in our country. Your decision to attack Sinn Féin and your allegation that our leadership was aware in advance of the Northern Bank robbery has put a huge question mark over this.
As you know Sinn Féin's peace strategy is based in part on Irish nationalist and republican parties working with the Irish government to advance the peace process and its promise of fundamental constitutional and political change, of an all-Ireland framework and of equality and human rights for all citizens.
You have acknowledged how Sinn Féin has worked closely with the Irish government to advance this agenda.
Whatever political differences there are between the Sinn Féin leadership and the Irish government we have never misled you or acted in bad faith with you, your Ministers or government officials. Such an approach would be entirely contradictory and counter-productive. It would completely undermine our peace strategy - a strategy which Sinn Féin is totally committed to and have invested so much in.
The Sinn Féin leadership, and Martin McGuinness and I had no prior knowledge of the Northern Bank robbery. When remarks attributed to you saying you thought we had such knowledge appeared in the print media last Friday I phoned Michael Collins and asked him to convey my concerns about this matter to you. I told him I did this more in disappointment than anger.
I asked for a meeting with you, not least because I believed that if you had such concerns then they should have been put directly to us. I agreed to talk to you by phone and requested that you hold back from repeating these allegations until we had a chance to talk. Some days later, on Sunday last, you repeated your allegation. I spoke to Michael Collins today and again gave him my views on all these matters. He told me that Sunday's interview was a pre-record and that you have not been available for meetings for a few days.
The political fallout from the recrimination and accusations surrounding the bank robbery has clearly compounded the difficulties in the process following the DUP refusal to come on board in December. In addition to this your specific accusations against the Sinn Féin leadership are enormously damaging to the working relationship between us and are undermining efforts to try and secure the comprehensive deal, which we are all working towards.
I am writing to you to ask that you address my concerns as a matter of urgency. I am still waiting for a response to our request for a meeting and the phone call to discuss these matters did not happen. These matters are too serious. They need to be dealt with as a matter of urgency.

This week as Gerry Adams slipped around Dundalk in County Louth in his very comfortable hush puppy shoes, and his less comfortable bestowed British Title Baron Adams of Northstead, Gerry Adams meet with some brutal honesty in Louth as good people closed the door in his face and others told him bluntly:
“You helped your brother Liam to set up home in this town when you knew he had raped his 4 year-old daughter Aine, may God forgive you”.
However, Lord Adams was not to be deterred and took time out for well choreographed media interviews, mainstream media often happy to take their directions from the provo organisers simply fell in to line and Lord Adams answered their pre-arranged questions. Lord Adams told the media that he had not known that he would be bestowed with a British Title, however, that is the equivalent of saying a worker did not know that they were entitled to redundancy.
Only a few short months ago Gerry Adams was forced to admit publicly that he had concealed the Rape of his 4 year old niece Aine and he was further forced to admit that he had given his father Gerry Adams Snr a full republican funeral when he had known that Gerry Snr had molested a number of Gerry’s own siblings. This crime against humanity would not have been so grevious if Adams and his mouth-piece puppets in An Phoblacht had not regularly made public pronouncements against people engaging in sexual crime and who had been brought before the courts.
In 2010 the Brendan Hughes interviews exposed the fact that Gerry Adams had sanctioned the cold blooded and cowardly murder of innocent Catholic Mother of Ten Jean Mc Conville who had been kidnapped, tortured and murdered by criminals under the command of Gerry Adams at that time, and her body buried in County Louth, so that the stain of criminality would rest on the shoulders of the good people of Louth rather than the criminals in west Belfast.
Several weeks ago The Irish Observer exposed the fact that Sinn Fein representatives had held secret meetings with ‘dissident’ terrorists in County Louth in order to gain safe passage for Gerry Adams to run in the Louth constituency. The ‘dissidents’ told Gerry Adams that he would have no problems from them as after all they all had the one objective, just different tactics.
It is amazing that since the Omagh Bomb Sinn Fein have been so public at distancing themselves from the ‘dissidents’ yet behind closed doors deals are being done. North Louth is the strong hold of ‘dissident’ terrorists, yet not as much as a whimper as Lord Adams asks the good people of Louth for their vote so that Lord Adams can have a pension from both the British and Irish parliaments.
Gerry Adams, heralded by many vested interests as a Peace Hero has many Dark Secrets, however, anyone who is not too bothered about child rape and the murder of innocent women should give him a vote.

Ireland is a small Island nation of some 5 million people. Ireland is divided into two parts, The Irish Republic made up of 26 counties with a population of approx 3.5 million people and governed by a democratically elected Irish Government, Northern Ireland which is made up of the remaining six counties with a population of approx 1.5 million people and remains part of the United Kingdom. If you are interested in the politics of Ireland I have published a 12 chapter e-book that is absolutely FREE to read by clicking on the link at the right hand side of this Blog dealing with that subject.
Ireland is a tourist destination for people from all around the world, mainly because the Irish have for various reasons made many countries around the world their home. People travel to Ireland in their thousands from countries such as American, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Africa the list is endless. Each year the world stops on the 17th of March to celebrate our national Saint Patrick (see, http://hubpages.com/hub/Saint-Patrick-We-Love-You).
People who come to Ireland do so for the welcoming attitude of the people, the music, the dancing, the Guinness, the rural unspoiled country side (see, my pics) and a good time is had by all. Ireland has a close relationship with America due to the many hundreds of thousands of Irish descendants who live and work in America. The Irish people have made it to the top of most career ladders in the various countries that they have lived, one of our most famous sons being President JF Kennedy whose picture continues to hang on the wall of many Irish homes. I have many favourite places in Ireland and I will start with one of them Galway.
As part of my Blogging activity, I will introduce readers to the social and cultural side of Irish life. I will take you on a journey through various parts of Ireland that I have experienced and enjoyed myself. I will begin that journey in the west of Ireland and a place that many of you may have heard off, Galway City. Galway City, is known locally as the City of the tribes (The city bears the nickname The City of the Tribes, because fourteen "Tribes" (merchant families) led the city in its Hiberno-Norman period) and enhances all that is worthy of Ireland's traditional image of a place of welcome and warmth. Galway hosts some of the world’s finest Hotels, B+Bs and Hostels, your needs and budgets can be meet and I always recommend dashhotels.com to my family and friends when they are returning to Ireland.
Galway City is particularly popular in the summer months during which time the streets and pubs echo with the sound of traditional music and dance. This thriving medieval City offers music festivals, horse racing, restaurants, shops, theatres to compete with any other European City of culture. The Galway people are friendly, open and welcoming. The open fires are often surrounded by story tellers, musicians and people enjoying a pint of Guinness. Food served in Galway is second to none, the vegetables, meat and other quality foods are locally sourced and can be traced back to the farm of origin.
I have stayed in both Galway City and County. Each has its own unique story and so for now I will focus on the City of Galway. Galway City is one of the fastest growing cities in Europe and, with a population of approx. 71,983 as per the census of April 2006; it has become the third city in the Republic of Ireland after Dublin and Cork. It began as a small fishing village centred on the estuary of the River Corrib, a river traditionally called Abhainn na Gaillimhe (The Galway River) after Galvia, a mythological princess said to have drowned in its waters.
Galway city is culturally very strong in that it has been the backbone of Irish Language, dance and music for generations. Much of Ireland has given way to the universal use of English and popular culture. The Galway Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking area) is just outside of Galway City and this broadens and strengthens the links between Irish speakers. The language is visible on the city streets, with bilingual signage on display on shops and road signs, and can be heard by locals around the city.
During the majority of months of the year Galway City has some cultural event going on. Among some of the events taking place in Galway City each year is the Cúirt International Festival of Literature (April), the Galway Early Music Festival (May), the Galway Sessions traditional Irish music festival, the Galway Film Fleadh (July), the Galway Arts Festival (July), Galway Races horse racing festival (start of August), Galway City Rat Race (September), Galway International Oyster Festival (September), the Baboró Galway International Arts Festival for Children (October) and the Tulca Visual Arts Festival (November) to name but a few.
During my stays in Galway I have enjoyed sitting before the open turf burning fires of the many pubs in the City, I have enjoyed the music, the dancing, the story telling and more importantly the good company of a welcoming people. Galway City is a cultural capital that any country would be proud to claim as its own, but for now you may simply invade it as welcome guests.

John Hamilton, one of the most wanted child sex offenders in the country and abroad, is back on U.S. soil to face the sentencing he fled the country to avoid in 2009.
Deputy U.S. Marshals and a representative from the Fairfax County (Va.) Police Department escorted Hamilton from Poland to the United States today. Upon arrival in Virginia, the U.S. Marshals handed Hamilton over to the Fairfax County Police Department.
The international manhunt for Hamilton ended in Poland with his capture in August 2010. Hamilton was on the G8 Wanted Child Sex Offender list, making him one of the most wanted child sex offenders in this country and internationally.
“I am appreciative of the cooperation of our domestic and international partners who assisted us in tracking down and apprehending Hamilton,” said Stacia A. Hylton, Director of the U.S. Marshals Service. “As we continue to work together - across borders - it is becoming increasingly hard for criminals to flee our shores and find refuge overseas. I offer my sincere thanks to everyone who helped bring this fugitive to justice."
Before fleeing the country in 2009, Hamilton had pled guilty and was awaiting sentencing on two counts of aggravated sexual battery of a child, two counts of indecent liberties with a child and one count of crimes against nature with a minor.
The U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force and U.S. Marshals from the Eastern District of Virginia began working the case in September 2009. Detectives assigned to the Fairfax County Child Services Unit and the Fairfax County Police Department worked closely with the U.S. Marshals Service on this intricate and extensive investigation.
When the case was adopted as part of the International roundup INFRA-RED and the G8 Wanted Child Sex Offender initiatives, the U.S. Marshals International Investigations Branch picked up the case in July 2010. They developed information he was travelling between Denmark, Germany and the Czech Republic. With the assistance of their overseas counterparts in those countries and deploying investigative methods, the U.S. Marshals were able to track Hamilton’s movements between different countries in Europe.
INTERPOL issued a Red Notice on Hamilton and sent it to every country in Europe, ultimately resulting in the arrest of Hamilton.
Hamilton was located in August 2010 on a bus leaving the Czech Republic entering into Poland. The Polish Border authorities pulled him to the side and subsequently found his U.S. passport. INTERPOL Washington officials confirmed Hamilton’s identity and informed the Polish authorities the United States would seek his extradition.
“The return of John Hamilton to the U.S. from Poland is another fine example of what can be accomplished when law enforcement authorities work together in the U.S. and internationally,” said INTERPOL Washington Director Timothy A. Williams. “I would like to especially commend the U.S. Marshals Service, the Fairfax County Police, and the Office of International Affairs for their tireless efforts to pursue and bring Hamilton back to the U.S. in a timely manner so that he can stand trial.”
The Office of International Affairs in the Justice Department's Criminal Division, as well as the FBI's legal attaché in Warsaw and Office of the Prosecutor General in Poland provided assistance in this matter.

Letter to Vincent McKenna from Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams
Vincent McKenna: Detectives from Northumbria questioned Vincent McKenna for several hours at Castlereagh holding centre in Belfast in 1999 in relation to the shooting of RUC tout Martin Mc Gartland, this at a time when MI5 agent Dennis Donaldson was running a smear campaign against McKenna from his cosy Sinn Fein Office at Stormont. It was alleged that McKenna had infiltrated a group known as Families Against Intimidation and Terror (FAIT) in order to gather information for an elite unit of the Provisional IRA who were investigating the killings of over two dozen members of their organisation in County Tyrone including the killing of 8 IRA members at Loughgall in 1987. It would appear that the closer Mc Kenna got to the truth about Loughgall the more intense the smear campaign against him became.
It was alleged that Martin Mc Gartland had sent a cheque for two thousand pounds sterling to FAIT in order to support the groups work, it is alleged that the name on the cheque was that of a woman and that the woman's bank details were in fact Mc Gartland's details. It is alleged that McKenna passed the cheque details to the PIRA in west Belfast and they used that information to shoot Mc Gartland at his hide out in England. It is alleged that Mc Kenna passed the information to a former IRA prisoner who had been on hunger strike with McKenna's cousin Sean McKenna in 1980. It would later transpire that Mc Gartland used several identities and disguises including that of women. Mc Gartland regularly dressed up as a woman and wore a wig, he always keep his RUC issued hand gun under his pillow.
While Mc Kenna was being targeted by Dennis Donaldson and other British agents from within the republican movement, the security services in the north reported seeing Mc Kenna on a number of occasions in the company of senior members of the Provisional IRA including Joe Cahill whom he would meet at the car park of the B&Q store on Boucher Road in Belfast. It is believed that Mc Kenna had first meet Joe Cahill in 1983 when Sinn Fein’s CaoimhghÃn Ó Caoláin had introduced them at Sinn Fein HQ at 44 Parnell Square Dublin so that Joe Cahill could advice Mc Kenna on his extradition at that time. Mc Kenna had been charged with an arson attack on the home of an RUC officer when he had been a member of Na Fianna Eireann (junior IRA).
It is believed that Mc Kenna was told to do whatever he had to do, in order to garner information about the killings of IRA volunteers in Tyrone. It would appear that Joe Cahill had no difficulty with Mc Kenna’s persona as an anti-IRA activist as long as Mc Kenna was able to gather intelligence about British agents within the republican movement. On the 18th July 1998 Vincent Mc Kenna was attacked by six members of the republican movement on the Ormeau Road in Belfast for his newly found anti-IRA position, however, Mc Kenna was sworn to silence and simply dealt with the un-sanctioned IRA attack as would any other citizen, to have done differently would have raised serious questions.
It is believed that while Vincent Mc Kenna was being questioned at Castlereagh holding centre in 1999 about the shooting of RUC tout Martin Mc Gartland, Mc Kenna noted a weakness in the security routine at Castlereagh and that this information would lead to an IRA raid on Castlereagh holding centre in 2002 at which time a great deal of RUC information was taken by the IRA. Mc Kenna had previously been involved in an escape plan in Crumlin Road Jail in 1984 when he had teamed up with Seamus Shannon and the PIRA Chief in Crumlin Road Jail at that time Big Joe, the plan was abandoned after prison officers discovered make-shift prison officer uniforms during a routine search of the republican A Wing of the Jail.
Martin Mc Gartland was a small time hood who was easily bought. Mc Gartland became involved in petty crime, which brought him to the notice of the RUC. He agreed to provide information to them about the IRA, which he infiltrated and was given the code name, "Agent Carol". He led a double life, kept secret even from the mother of his two children. From 1987 to 1991 he provided information to the RUC Special Branch, rising to the centre of IRA and Sinn Fein operations.
McGartland's reported greatest regret was his failure in June 1991 to save the life of 21-year-old Private Tony Harrison, a soldier from London, who was shot at the home of his East Belfast fiancée where they were making wedding plans. Martin was brought into the operation so late he had no time to advise his handlers although he had previously indicated the IRA's interest in the area. A taxi driver, Noel Thompson, who picked Harrison up at Belfast airport and informed the IRA was later jailed for 12 years for conspiracy to murder.
In 1991, Mc Gartland provided information about an attack planned on a Bangor, County Down, Northern Ireland pub where soldiers frequently drank: the RUC intercepted the courier delivering the gun to be used, and McGartland was exposed. He was abducted but escaped IRA execution by jumping from a third floor window, and was rescued by passers-by before being hospitalised.
He moved to England and received nearly £100,000 to buy a house and establish a new life in Whitley Bay, Tyne & Wear, going by the name Martin Ashe and a number of other aliases. He failed in his attempt to receive compensation for criminal injuries as the state he had sold out to viewed him as a criminal. Mc Gartland had a thirst for publicity and was in regular contact with certain journalists in the north, following his shooting in 1999 it is alleged that Mc Gartland sent faxes to media outlets in the north alleging that Vincent Mc Kenna was an active IRA Intelligence Officer and that Mc Kenna’s anti-terrorist persona was a cover.

Aidan McAnespie was a Catholic boy who grew up in a small town called Aughnacloy in County Tyrone Northern Ireland. Aidan Mac Anespie attended St Mary’s primary school in Aughnacloy and then St Ciaran’s Secondary School in Ballygawley County Tyrone.
Aidan Mac Anespie was the son of John and Elizabeth (RIP) Mac Anespie who lived at Hillcrest in Augnacloy, County Tyrone. Aidan had two sisters Elish (RIP) and Margo. Aidan Mac Anespie had three older brothers Sean, Gerard and Vincent.
The Mac Anespie family were and remain highly regarded within the Aughnacloy community. In the early 1980s Northern Ireland was in political and social turmoil. Many people who in different circumstances would have lived ordinary lives found themselves in the middle of a very dirty war.
It was during the IRA hunger strikes of 1980/1981 that the three older Mac Anespie brothers would join the republican movement. Eventually Sean, Gerard and Vincent would move from the north of Ireland to the Irish Republic.
Aidan Mac Anespie remained at home in Aughnacloy with his father John and mother Elizabeth. When Aidan Mac Anespie left school in June 1980 he faced the prospect of going on the Dole if he remained in County Tyrone as there were few jobs available especially for Catholics.
Aidan Mac Anespie contacted his good friend Vincent McKenna who had begun work in Monaghan Town in the Irish Republic. Vincent McKenna was working in Monaghan Poultry Products; while McKenna was only 16 years old he was already a Shop Steward (ITGWU) and representing fellow workers.
Aidan Mac Anespie asked Vincent McKenna if he could get him a job in the poultry products. Vincent McKenna was able to secure a job for Aidan Mac Anespie and another lad from Aughnacloy.
Aidan Mac Anespie was delighted to get the job and soon bought himself a 125 Yamaha motor cycle so he could travel the 13 miles from Aughnacloy to Monaghan each day without depending on anyone else to give him a lift. Aidan loved his job and everyone who worked with him enjoyed his good nature and humour.
Aidan Mac Anespie worked in the Poultry products from 1980-1988 at which time Aidan Mac Anespie was murdered in cold blood by the British Army as he walked to a game of Gaelic football.
Aidan Mac Anespie had done no wrong, he had been harassed every day by the RUC and British Army as he went to and from his work and finally they murdered Aidan Mac Anespie.
This year 2011 Aidan Mac Anespie will be dead 23 years. Aidan Mac Anespie’s memory lives on with those who knew and cared about Aidan.
In Ireland we have suffered many tragedies and inflicted much pain on our neighbours, however, the murder of Aidan Mac Anespie was unjustified and unjustifiable.

Fianna Fail have left behind a Healthcare system that has seen many people die needlessly, young women unable to get cervical cancer treatment, women unable to get smear and breast scanning services, tens of thousands of people who have suffered the indignity of lying on hospital trolleys while Government Ministers and their bagmen got private beds in private hospitals, 5,500 children denied operations, men, women and children tortured by unsupervised butchers such as Dr Michael Neary. Many people are in their grave today because of the greed and self serving of a corrupt and criminal administration lead by Fianna Fail over the past 14 years, it is time to say no more and to challenge the weasel words of Gabshites such as Micheal Martin, the man destined to be the bridesmaid but never the bride.
New Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin has today condemned Fine Gael's plans for reforming the health service and defended his record as minister for health.
Speaking this morning he said he was "aghast" at the Fine Gael proposal "in terms of dismantling the national structure again and going back to independent republics for each individual hospital across the country".
"That's a recipe for poor quality, for poor outcomes and lack of standards."
Noting there were 55 agencies in the health service when he became minister, Mr Martin said: "I said enough is enough.
"Why did we go to a national system? I wanted better outcomes for patients in heart disease and cancer," he said. "I would argue with anyone that we have transformed the way we have dealt with heart disease in this country. There is no argument with that. We have also transformed cancer care in this country," Mr Martin told RTÉ radio.
